Short Stories

By on November 30, 2015

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend (or just a great weekend, for those outside the US). Thanksgiving was great, and I spent “black Friday” away from crowds inside a cozy house with leftovers while it rained. I did have to work Saturday, but I spent the entire day hosting a Star Wars marathon for the teens (the original trilogy, of course) to prepare us for Episode 7. It’s almost here!!!

But back to writing news. I’m excited to finally announce the release of the first of three short stories that will lead up to the events of Firebrand. These small snapshots cover the backstories of a few key characters, and will be published in chronological order. Here are the titles and release dates:

The Outcast – December 7
The Mistfit – January 4 February 1
The Emigrant – February 1  March 1outcast

They’ll be published on Wattpad and Figment.com (a really awesome creative writing site for teens), but you do not have to be a member of either site to read. I’ll also post a link to download the pdf, if you prefer.

Here’s a quick preview of the first story:

Philadelphia, 1845

David Kavanagh has arrived in America with nothing but a broken heart and a child that isn’t his. Haunted by his past, David is ready to give up until he meets a young preacher’s daughter who seems to understand his pain. But can she convince him to put his shame behind him and start building a new life, or will he keep running?

Look for it next Monday! Have a great week!
